The real suffering has just begun

Brid

The road to the cells was long and terrifying. Members of the pack gathered to see first-hand how their Luna fell. Halfway through, something made me lift my head, and when I did, Toni’s piercing gaze hit me. Fatima was next to him. And their expressions said it all. They couldn't believe how I was alive. They kept their gaze on me until I disappeared from their sight. A few more steps away, we arrive at the place where I will probably spend the last days of my life. Fear strokes my heart, and start taking a few steps back. But a Wolf that was escorting me pushed forward with its snout.

He kept pushing until we reached the entrance. This place was barren to look at. There was nothing that made anyone feel good here. The facade was of grey stone. There was no paint and only an iron door adorned it. It was opened from the inside and Conrad's brother, Simon, came out to greet us. He was responsible for guarding the cells and maintaining order together with his brother.

He looked at me with disdain and said, “When I heard that you had betrayed the Alpha, at first, I did not believe it. However, now I see that you are only a climber. You wanted power and at the same time keep your lover. Fortunately, you were exposed. There are still wolves with conscience and loyalty to their Alpha.”

His cruel words lashed at my heart. He and I knew each other well. I never thought that the people of this place would be so blind. I could not do anything to contain my tears, flowing like rivers.

“That was not what happened, just let me…”

“Traitorous bitch, silence. Nobody wants to hear how you wallowed with another, having the Alpha as your fated mate.” Simon approached me threateningly and yanked me by the arm, throwing me inside. The force knocked me to the floor. The wound on my knee opened again.

“AAAAA.”

“Shut up.”

I covered my mouth with my hand so as not to make any more sounds. They would have no mercy on me, no matter what.

“Conrad, it's all under control. Tell Alpha I'll take care of the prisoner.”

I looked up at them. Conrad and the others turned to me in disgust. Every look they gave me saddened my heart more and more. When they all left, Simon closed the door. It seemed only he and I were here. I looked around, and this place was horrible.

The floor and wall were concrete, with only a desk at the entrance and a door next to it. Even though I was Luna of this pack, I never entered here. My mate did not allow me. He said that there were things that I should never see. Now I understand why this place is more terrifying than the same cursed forest.

After I finished observing this place, I turned to Simon. He was standing in front of me, his arms crossed over his chest. My gaze filled with fear. I had never been in front of such an aggressive man, willing to hurt me without a second thought. I was helpless without Leaf.

“Now, don't look at me like that, you unpleasant woman. You should already know what would happen to you if we caught you. This is what we do to all traitors. But your case will be a little more special. You are still my Luna, and for that reason, the betrayal is double.”

“AAAAA,” the kick to my side, I did not see it coming. I doubled over in pain. Without my wolf, everything is worse. I grabbed my side with my hand, doing a little pressure.

“That was your welcome.” Simon crouched down to my level, saying, “Prepare for what is coming. You will regret betraying the Alpha, and what symbolizes a sacred union like that of a fated mate.”

His eyes went manic, filled with vengeance. I started to shake my head, no, no. “I didn't betray him, Simon. I would never do something like that to Kael. Believe me.”

“Shut up traitor!” The slap that followed his words made my head turn the other way.

“As I kept saying,” he grabbed a handful of my hair and started dragging me down a hall. I grabbed his hand, so he wouldn’t rip off my scalp.

“You are not Luna here. You're another criminal. I'll read you the rules, which you'll have to follow to the letter; otherwise, there will be consequences.”

Simon stopped in front of a gate and then released my hair. He took a set of keys from his pocket and with one of them opened the door. I already knew what would happen next. I would be locked up here until a sentence is handed down. When the gate was wide open. Simon picked me up by the hair and threw me inside.

On the floor, I started to move backwards, away from this beast. I couldn't take my eyes off him. I was afraid that at any moment he would attack me without me being prepared. But luckily for me, he closed the door with a BANG! Which made me jump. I looked around and what I saw made me shudder. There was nothing, just a bucket, which is surely my toilet. I could not believe it. This was inhumane, even for a criminal or a traitor.

Has Kael ordered this? The infinite love that he professed for me had it died with those lies? I grabbed my face with my hands, crying. I didn't want this monster to see me like this; however, this pain was very hard to contain.

“Oh! I noticed that you got acquainted with your new room. That's good, as you will stay here, until the day you are sentenced to death, and let me tell you it could take months. I assure you, before that, you will be begging for death.”

Simon turned around and started laughing out loud. A few minutes passed, and I couldn't stop crying. My tears trickled from my eyes without me being able to help it. Kael, Kael.
