Simon pushed me back to the cell. I stood there, unable to do anything else. “Ha, ha, ha, Luna, you look like a wet cat instead of a wolf. Ha, ha, ha. And to believe that you are still the Luna of this pack, how terrible.” My eyes felt swollen from crying so much. This humiliation seemed endless. But after a few seconds, Simon threw a piece of clothing on the floor.
“Dress yourself disgracefully, woman. I don't want you to tempt me. I won't fall for your tricks.” Immediately, I bent down to lift the garment. This was a shirt that came down to my knees. With no time to lose, I put it on.
The shirt stuck to my skin, and it didn't provide me with any warmth or protection. My teeth wouldn't stop shaking, and without food that could give me calories, the cold felt more. But I stayed standing in front of him. I was not going to give him the pleasure of seeing me fall.
“OK, Luna, that was it for today. I don't know if I will come tomorrow. There are important things to attend to in the pack. Like the meeting, in which we will have to choose the new Luna.”
My heart froze, as was my body. His words echoed through the confines of my mind.
Simon smirked at me, “Oh! But don't worry yet. This is just a meeting. All the councillors will meet to propose the new Luna, but that will take time. Don't worry. There are many candidates to choose from, including your best friend, Fatima. You know that an Alpha cannot be without a mate for long. You understand, right?”
My eyes full of disbelief, followed every movement that this monster did. His words pierced my ears, leaving me without the ability to form any coherent thought. In my mind, there were only two words that grew every moment: Fatima, Kael, Fatima, Kael. And again, and again.
When I reacted, I realized that I was alone in the cell. I looked around; however, my vision was cloudy. The unshed tears were depriving me of sight. I let them out, as well as the happiness that was taken from me went out the window. That would be my end. The day Kael takes her as his own. What would Leaf think and do at this moment?
“Leaf, we're going to be alone without our mate, and I don't think I'll be able to resist it.”
I leaned against the wall and slowly slid down. Once seated, I hugged my knees with my arms and closed my eyes. Even with the horrible cold I had, the fatigue took hold of me.

The noise of the door of my gate when opened woke me up. I was lying on the floor in a fetal position. My hair was still wet. This place is so humid and without air, the mould grows fast, and thanks to this, my bones also hurt. I slowly opened my eyes, and Simon was standing in front of me with a tray in hand. He smiled at me when he saw me awake.
“Good morning, Luna. Did you have a good rest? Ah! I'm glad to hear it. I have a surprise for you.”
Hearing his words, my heartbeat sped up. Nothing that this man does or says will be to make me feel good, quite the opposite. I sat up with difficulty since my bones ache.
“Today is lunch day, hoping these last four days without food have not put you in a bad mood. Hey! I'm good to you and that's why I brought you this. They are the leftovers of what a rescued from the dustbin. Here you go, eat it before it gets cold.” Without further ado, Simon tossed the tray of food over my head.
“AAAAA,” the wound on my head had not completely healed. This only made the pain come to life further. Immediately, I brought my hands to my head.
“Oops, how clumsy I am. You will have to forgive me, Luna, but I'm rushing. Today is the meeting I told you about the other day, and let me tell you about the candidates. Fatima has the upper hand. She is a wolf with many abilities, and above all, loyal. That's the important thing, don't you think?”
“I'll leave you to enjoy your meal.”
With that, Simon turned and left, leaving me on the floor with the tray and the leftovers everywhere. I stayed a while longer in the same place without moving, assimilating everything. If that was true, it is because Kael had approved that meeting. So, soon? He did not even wait for the trial to finish, to find another. My replacement.
Looking at the floor again, I wasn't hungry. So, I grabbed the tray and picked up everything. When I finished, I put it by the door and went back to the corner where I was.
“Leaf, did you hear that? Our mate is going to choose his new mate soon. And you and I will be executed for something we did not do.”
It would have been better not to have awakened from the dead.

The time in the cell did not exist. Every day that passed, my mind and my heart moved away from reality. The last time Simon came, it was a long time ago, days I don't know how many, but yes, days since I saw him. Now more than ever, I am afraid of what he will bring with him. He will come to give me the news that I do not want to hear or know. Kael, will you think of me from time to time?
“Leaf, what are we going to do? If you were here, what would you do in my place? I need you more than ever.”
I closed my eyes again, letting myself be carried away by the memory of the sweet voice of my mate. He was telling me how much he loved me.
