My days are darker without you

Brid

“We are here to witness the sacred union between fated mates.”

The she-wolf matron, after saying that, looked attentively at Kael and then at me. Her smile was radiant and full of happiness. Finally, her beloved son, and Alpha, would unite in the name of destiny with me. That made me smile, I was happy for her and of course for me. Since Kael took control of the pack, things smiled for the whole community.

“Mighty fate has brought them together, and only fate will separate them.”

Rose pointed to two young wolves that were approaching, carrying trays. One had a golden cup with a silver dagger, and the other a silver cup, with a gold dagger.

I was so anxious that my heart was practically leaking out of my chest. This would be all. After this, Kael and I will be one.

A thousand emotions ran through my body, happiness, trust, love. I couldn't think of anything more beautiful than this moment. Kael turned to see me and smiled at me, squeezing my hand gently. But his eyes were telling me an entirely different story.

For him, I was his everything. He has proven it day after day. And not just in deeds, but in words. I know how much this Wolf loves me, and I love him back.

Rose, the matron, caught our attention, and we both turned quickly to attend to her.

The two wolves were in front of us, and the matron got off the pedestal and walked over to where we were. She took the golden dagger first and extended her hand to me. I already knew what was next. And without hesitation, I put my hand in her. She turned it so that the palm was facing up. Then, she cut me.

“AH!”

Rosa apologized with a smile, and the next thing she did was pour my blood into a silver cup. After finishing, and without saying anything, she turned to Kael, doing the same thing with him.

Rosa had the two glasses in her hands, holding them in front of us. She offered me the gold one, and Kael the silver one.

“Drink my children. Drink of the blood that would unite both of you in body and mind, sealing your destiny forever.”

“AAAAAA.”

Ice water was poured on my face, waking me up from my beautiful dream. I opened my eyes and sat up immediately, completely wet. My teeth began to shiver. Finally, I looked straight ahead and Simon was in front of me, looking at me from above with an air of grandeur. His cruel smile only gave me chills.

“Good morning, former Luna.”

What did he say? Former Luna? So, it was done?

“Oh! But don't make that face”

Simon walked over to me, holding my arm, forcing me to stand up. His eyes wanted only one thing. To inflict pain on me, whether physical or mental. And so far, he was doing a good job.

“I came in person to tell you the news. Guess what? You are no longer the Luna of Ghost Fang pack. Now you are nothing. A criminal who was spared her life. Yes, you know about that, don't you? Oh, what a fool I am, of course, you don't because you've been locked up in this cell for weeks. But sadly, I will have to say goodbye to you. You will go where all the criminals go who were not sentenced to death. You will be exiled from the pack and the territory. Whoever sees you prowling around us, will have the right to kill you.”

My eyes with horror crystallized. My heart was breaking uncontrollably because all this meant only one thing. The pack finished with me, and Kael too.

My existence had no purpose now. Without my mate, what will become of me? One by one, until my vision was clouded, I poured all my soul through my tears.

“But don't get like that,” Simon said, “There is a person who wants to see you and talk to you before I escort you past the border of Ghost Fang.”

Kael? My brain refused to think.

“Go ahead, Fatima.”

Behind Simon, the she-wolf that I considered my friend for so many years appeared. Her face was radiant, with a wonderful smile that adorned, full of triumph. She came to make sure that I was at my lowest?

“Thanks, could you give me a few minutes alone with Brid. It's to say goodbye, despite what she did, Brid was my only friend since we were puppies, please?”

I couldn't believe it, how dare she? I will never forgive her for her betrayal. She and Toni are the ones who should be exiled, inside me.

A new feeling was forming, which until today, I had not experienced in my life. Hate.

Simon smiled at her, saying, “Fatima, whatever you say. But first, a warning. This lewd wolf is not to be trusted. Be careful because she can jump on your neck at any time.” My ears couldn't believe how low they thought of me. I gave them my best, always believing in the pack. But the reality was another.

Simon withdrew, but not before giving me one last look, “Don't you dare touch her.”

Now Fatima and I were alone. My gaze is focused on her. If Leaf were here, she would have ripped her throat out by now. My face turned to hatred because, in front of me, I had the person who stole everything from me, my pack, my house, my mate.

Fatima looked at me, from head to toe, with a disgusted reaction. For the first time, I was witnessing the real her. I never saw a sign of her hatred for me, ever. However, it was there.

She cleared her throat and said, “I don't know how you are alive, Brid. She assured us that the dose would be fatal.” Then her eyesight changed, looking at me with pity.

“I'm sorry that things have happened this way. But you were not good for him, nor for the pack. You have to accept it. But I swear to you, I'll take care of everything.”
