 Banished

Brid

“What are you saying, traitor? You were the wolf that I loved the most. You and that stupid Toni is going to pay for this. I swear I will do my best to see you on the ground, begging for your life. And when that moment comes, I will have no mercy on you.”

My eyes burned with malice, for her. Her betrayal was beyond what my brain could understand. But Fatima only smiled.

“What can you do, Brid? You are now an exile. You are the public enemy of this pack, and I now have free rein to woo Kael. Sadly, I did not think Kyle would choose me for Luna's position when Simon told me who the contestant would be. Those damned council members and their daughters have more advantages than me, unfortunately. But let me tell you who Kael choose for this, Brid. He picked a she-wolf, highly influential and strong. Her name is Amanda.”

Amanda? No, I know her well. Always competing and challenging my decisions. She has always wanted my mate, and this will be her chance.

My eyes watered, thinking of my terrible ending.

“I won't lie to you, my heart was sad that he didn’t turn to see me once. I knew it was going to be heard, but I still have hopes. There is another vacancy, you know? His mate.”

Her words rang in my brain incessantly, making me react instinctively. I threw myself at her with a heartrending cry.

“YOU WILL DYE, AAA.”

I grabbed her neck and began to squeeze it. Fatima's panicked eyes encouraged me to continue. I had to kill her. She was responsible for everything I had lost. She had to die.

But before I could finish my task, a kick to my ribs sent me to the other side of the cell. My body hit the concrete, doing a TUG. My head hit the floor, leaving me semi-conscious. But I still could hear Simon saying, “Are you okay, Fatima?”

She was coughing non-stop.

“I'm fine, Simon, thank you. I didn't think her bitterness and resentment were so great as to attack me.”

“I'm going to teach this criminal a lesson. After this, she'll know that she can't mess with you and come out clean.”

“Oh! No Simon, don't do it, her life is already sad as she is. Although, it is hard to believe that she was Luna of this pack. Only take her away from here, and may she never set foot in these lands again. That will be worst than anything else”

“You are very kind, I will leave it as it is.”

I heard footsteps approaching me and my body was roughly lifted off the ground. Simon put me on his shoulder, and we left the cells. My conscience would abandon me for moments; however, I felt the breeze in the air caressing my face, loving that small moment. Then I felt like I was thrown into the boot of a vehicle, and I also heard the noise of the engine. After that, I didn't know anything more about myself.

The pattern of rain falling on my face woke me up. I wanted to open my eyes, but I couldn't. It was as if my body didn't want to wake up. In this way, I stayed a while longer where I was, without thinking about a thing. My body was cold, and I was shivering. I had to seek shelter and I had no idea where I was. I tried to open my eyes again, and this time I succeeded; however, my vision was blurry. With my hands, I wiped my eyes. I opened them again and my vision remained the same. What could it be? Why can't I see clearly?

I sat down with a lot of effort and looked around me. It was difficult to see, however, even so, I did not recognize this place. Suddenly, the memory of what happened hit me hard. They exiled me. I was in no man's land. I held my face with both hands and cried. Cry, for everything I had lost, and for the love of my mate, which was not enough to believe me and help me. I cried because Leaf had abandoned me, and finally, I cried because my life was worth nothing.

After some time, I was shivering again, with my body trembling uncontrollably. I knew if I didn't move, I might freeze to death. But what does it matter? With a terrible weight on my soul, I lay back in the mud and closed my eyes. The face of my beloved Kael was the last thing I saw before I lost consciousness.

Everything was so soft around me, and it smelled of flowers. I sighed, enjoying this wonderful smell. I opened my eyes slowly; however, I saw lights only in the distance. I blinked to clarify my vision, it hasn't got any better. What's more, I tense instantly.

Where was I? I touched where I was lying and definitely was a bed. The sheets were soft and welcoming. I sat up, trying to see my surroundings better; however, everything looked cloudy.

“Pa, she has already woken up.”

I turned to where the sound of the voice was, and I saw a small silhouette.

“Hi, hi, you already woke up. I found you, and I called Pa.”

I was trying to figure out who this person was. So, I raised my hand to the little figure to see if it was real, but the little hand touched mine first.

“My name is Mary, and you?” Oh! I was indeed a girl. I cleared my throat and replied, “Hi Mary, I'm Brid. “ With a raspy voice, I manage to reply.

“Pa, Pa, Brid woke up, come,” the little girl ran out of the room, and seconds later she came back with a larger figure. I felt nervous all of a sudden, so I kept my face there, waiting.

“Pa, look, Brid already woke up.”

“Yes, I see, and all thanks to your care, Mary. My name is Han, and from what my daughter said, you are Brid, aren't you?”

I nodded. I had no idea what to say. But I swallowed my fear and reacted.

“I'm Brid, thanks for taking care of me. Without you, surely…” That word stuck in my throat, I couldn't say.

“I don't know how to repay you for your kindness.”
