 Now What?

Kael

“This is where you are going to live from now on. I would give you a tour of the house; however, I am quite busy. Your room will be the second door up the stairs. But I have to warn you, Amanda. Mine is out of your reach. You are not allowed to enter for any reason, and you will not be able to bring anyone here either.” Amanda's surprised face told me that she wasn't expecting this.

“Kael, why? We are already mates. The pack hopes to see us stable and united. We have to make this relationship work. I am going to support you as much as I can. Of that, you must be sure, but you must give me a chance.”

She walked over to me and put her hand on my chest, “I'll make you happy Kael, just let…” Without letting her finish, I took a few steps back, making space between the two of us. She will receive from me my cold and unemotional gaze. I will not allow this she-wolf to take the place of my mate. I won't let her touch me.

She lowered her hand and placed it at her side. Her eyes glazed over, and her tears threatened to come out. But nothing that she does will touch me because it belongs to Brid. This is only a strategy to find out the truth and buy time, nothing more. I have to get to the bottom of this as soon as I get the chance. I need my mate with me, my mind and body demand it.

“Alpha, I need to see you urgently, It's important.”

“David?”

“Yes, Alpha, I have news.”

“Where are you?”

“I'm on the border between the Western Witch Coven and the ghost fang territory.”

“I am leaving immediately.”

He's got news. Is it from Brid? My hands began to sweat, and the adrenaline began to run through all my veins. Finally, something.

I headed for the door at top speed. While I was opening it, Amanda's voice interrupted me.

“Kael, where are you going? We haven't finished talking.”

I turned my head and looked at her. Her eyes were teary as she approached me.

“Kael, she is not worth it. I'm stronger and smarter. The pack doesn't need her. We will be better.” No, that is not true, and nothing was going to stop me. I directed my gaze forward, took a step outside, and then closed the door behind me. I gave way to Wind. He howled, letting the pack know that he was the Alpha, the head of all.

Wind wasted no time and began to run at full speed. My Wolf was the fastest in the region. There was no one who had a chance before him.

It took me twenty minutes to get to where David indicated. He was in his wolf form, waiting for us near a rock. Seeing me, he transformed into a human and approached me. I did the same until we were face to face.

“Alpha,” David bowed his head in respect, but I didn't have the patience for that. “What news do you have? Tell me.”

“I followed Toni as you ordered, and nothing different or what would cause suspicion during these days, until today. He went to visit a witch in West Covent. I saw exactly which house he was entering, and as I got closer, I detected a very familiar smell. It was the same one you identified in the northern forest. Specifically, the last time Brid left traces of her presence until we found her in that cave. The smell of medicine that you described was all over this witch's house.”

I clenched my fists, fearing the worst. The witches were in collusion with Toni and Fatima. Wind was about to emerge to follow the trail and kill those involved. My eyes were turning black. My Wolf wanted to intervene and kill them all. But it was not yet time.

I have to know if there are more witches involved. So, I summon the elder sister of the western Covent. His howl was frightening, reaching the deepest of the earth. Our domain was being invaded by strangers and we would not allow them. For a moment longer, he won't tolerate this disrespect, and neither I. Now the only thing to do here was to wait.

Half an hour later, the elder sister materialized in front of me. Though the years go by, yet, she still looks the same. A beautiful young witch. But, her appearance is deceptive. Years of power and wizardry back her up. She is not the older sister for nothing. Blood from countless men stains her hands.

“Thank you for coming, Salima.”

She removed the veil that covered her face; however, her expression did not reflect any emotion. It was like standing in front of an ivory statue.

“Mighty Alpha from Ghost Fang. What can I do for you?”

I nodded and took a step forward, closing the distance between us, but not enough to be at her mercy.

“I know that one of your sisters is involved in something that I am still investigating. The clues guided us here, and I want answers, Salima. My mate's life is in danger, and without the intervention of one of your witches, none of this would have happened.”
