  I remember when we met

Kael

Conrad, my childhood friend, and beta was with me, in my office. Planing some repairs to the main avenue in our town. Some parts of the pavement need to be patched. It's the principal street that links all the paths and streets to reach the houses of my pack's members. That's why the problem needs to be solved as soon as possible.

“Yes, Kael, we have to fix this immediately. In fact, two cars have already been stuck. Sam and Noel have already put up a caution sign. In that way, we will prevent more members of our pack from ending up there.” I nodded. Due to this hole, we had to repair two cars already. Good thing no one got hurt.

“We must fix it now. We cannot wait until someone gets hurt to fix it, Conrad. Get the workers on site tomorrow. As for the cars, let Williams take care of them. The pack’s funds will cover the repair costs.”

“It will be done as you say.” Yet, before leaving, Conrad pointed to the bunch of papers piled up on my desk.

“Don’t forget that those papers must be reviewed and approved no later than tomorrow. We need the Alphas board to sign off on the agreements you signed with them last week. Thanks to our persistence, our pack is finally recognized. Being a member of this council comes with many benefits. One of the most important is support in case of being attached.”

Looking back at him, I narrowed my eyes.

“Conrad, you don't have to explain to me what I agree with them. It is clearer than water. Verify, sign, and deliver the papers no later than tomorrow, I got it, alright? Now, don't worry, and go coordinate the workers.”

“Whatever you say, Alpha,” Conrad said mockingly, turning around and walking out of my office. As he left, I glanced at my pile of papers with disgust.

“This going to take me a couple of hours.” Sighing, I grabbed the first file and began to do my homework.

Finally, the last one. I closed the document by placing it along with the others. Then, I mentally link Conrad. “All set, come and get them.”

“I can't Alpha, I'm in the middle of the cement mix. I'll ask Charly to stop by and have him send them in person.”

“OK, sounds good, I'll be waiting for him.”

I cut the communication and leaned against the back of my chair. I turned to look at the clock and three hours had already passed. Then I thought about Sam, Noel, and Charly, our trainees. Three young werewolves ready to prove themselves to their Alpha.

In the future, they will be responsible for the administration of the pack. They will be a great help for all, especially me because I don't have to figure everything out as an Alpha. Therefore, we are a unit, the Ghost Fang pack and delegating responsibilities speaks well of a strong and independent structure.

These three wolves have shown their commitment, and we can put on their shoulders some of the weight that Conrad and I have been carrying for a long time now.

Honestly, who am I kidding? I want to spend more time with my mate. Despite the age difference, she has been a perfect Luna for everybody. Responsible, attentive, and always on top of things. I never thought I'd find her. I was losing hope after so many years of yearning for her until her essence tangled in my nostrils. Leaving me frozen where I was. I remember it like it was yesterday.

My beautiful mate was shopping. She was looking at a pair of shoes on a sideboard in a very exclusive store. And she was not alone, two wolves accompanied her. A werewolf and a she-wolf. My wolf is very possessive, but with her, he got worse because she was ours. Wind immediately growled, stating his claim.

All the wolves around bowed their heads in submission, and no one was there to get in our way. We had finally found her.

Wind thought that no wolf should be near her, and I agreed. My mate and her two friends suddenly turned to see what was happening. But I was already halfway there. The eyes of my mate, when she saw me, widened comically. I was giving off testosterone and rage. The atmosphere smelled of challenge.

But something made me stop short. It was her face, something was terribly wrong. She was a teenager! No, it is not possible. Life was playing with me, my mate was what? 15 or 16? I was a grown man.

At 26 years old, I was already the Alpha of my pack. However, my wolf did not care, he kept attracting her with his pheromones, inciting her wolf to come out. However, when my mate reacted after the fright of seeing me, she raised her nose and absorbed our scent. Her eyes, a beautiful sky-blue colour, turned grey. Her wolf was trying to have a better view of us. Wind drew his claws out and fought for control. No one was going to take this moment away from him. My transformation was imminent.

My bones began to crunch, and my clothes flew off. The skin was torn, giving way to my jet-black fur. Wind was enormous. Few were those who did not tremble when being in the presence of this incredible predator. And one of them was my mate.

She kept sniffing the air, sticking her tongue out, sporadically to savour my scent. Wind was in front of her. And finally, my mate locked her eyes with mine. The intensity of Wind's gaze was overwhelming, I could feel it. I had never seen him behave like this, but this case was special. Despite having fought with other Alphas who challenged us for our position, now more than ever, he needed this wolf's submission.
