 Possession

Brid

Amanda is here, living in my house, under the same roof as my mate. I never would have thought of it. Listening to what she is saying now, I came to the conclusion that it is a farce. After what she told me the other day, and now this. No, I know she is lying. She just wants to look good in the eyes of my mate. This way, as she told me, she wants to get me out of the way. Now that she is Luna, she only needs one more step to have it all. And that step is my mate.

“As I kept telling you, I brought enough food for everyone. I will have the table ready, and you Kael, you can reheat the food in the microwave.”

I clenched my teeth from the fury this wolf made me feel. How dare she tell my mate what to do? I know her game, and I won't let her get between me and my mate.

“Kael, I will eat what you prepared.” My comment was met with silence until my mate spoke, “Are you certain, love? What Amanda brought looks pretty good.”

I shook my head, “I'm confident, I won't eat anything that is not from you, Han, or Mary.” My heart was bruised, and If I wasn't careful, this she-wolf could take me away from my mate. I was unable to take another blow.

“OK, Brid, here you go.” The aroma of the food Kael placed in front of me filled my nostrils. My mate put a fork in my hand and without wasting any more time, I began to eat. The flavour was wonderful. Kael always surprised me with special meals. He's not the best cook but knowing he made it makes it taste better. I then listen to the sound of plates, cutlery, and chairs creaking.

“Kael, I am deeply grateful to you. Anthony is doing a wonderful job bringing me up to speed on finances.” I paused for a moment, and after a few seconds, I continued with my food as if what she said hadn't happened. She was now taking ownership of what I used to do, rubbing it in my face. I wanted to cry, but for any reason, I will let her know how much it affected me to hear her.

“He is an incredible assistant, as is David. In the future, I will need my office, I can't keep working on the same one as you. There just isn't enough space for the things I want to bring.”

OK, that's enough. I put down my cutlery on the plate and got up. Stretching out my hands, I tried to find my way out of the kitchen. A chair creaked, and I knew it was Kael.

“Brid, what's wrong?” I shook my head without saying anything. I turned around and touched the walls for guidance. In an instant, I felt my mate's hand, leading me into the living room. He took me to the couch and I sat down. Kael took the seat next to me. He held my hand, and with his finger began to caress me.

“I know, Brid, I know.” He only said that then put his arm around my shoulder and leaned his head against mine. We stayed like this for a while, until we hear Amanda come out of the kitchen and head to her room.

Kael separated from me and took me by the shoulders. “Brid, it's about time, we need to get ready. Remember, we cannot fail.”

His words were like a punch to my stomach. Just thinking about what would happen to me soon was something that froze my veins. I fearfully nodded and took his hand.

“Promise me, Kael, promise me.” I felt his hand squeeze mine tightly, and after a few seconds, he said, “I promise mate, I promise.”

I smiled slightly, grateful, and nodded.

“Come on,” I told him without wasting any more time.

We left the house and got into a car. Kael started the engine, and we took off. The whole trip, we didn't speak a single word. Then I felt the car slow down and stop. I straightened my back and held on to the seat using my nails. Little by little, fear was taking over me. The sweat beads were beginning to form all over my forehead. I heard Kael's door open and seconds later close. Mine opened and Kael helped me out.

Holding me still, we walked for about ten minutes until we came to a complete stop.

Kael hugged me and kissed my head. “Everything will be fine, love, everything will be fine.”

I started sobbing into his chest. This was beyond what a human could possibly stand. My strength was leaving me, I felt it, and I wanted to run out of this place too, forget everything.

“Are you ready?” I took a deep breath, trying to give myself courage. I nodded, then I said, “I will never be ready for this Kael. But I have no other choice. Do whatever you have to do.”

Kael separated from me, and immediately I heard the howl of Wind resound through the place. I started to bite my lip nervously. I was waiting for what was going to happen, most likely on my end.

After Wind's call, we stood there, waiting for her. And five minutes later, the air was starting to fill with a presence that I had never felt before. Just being exposed to this great power gave me goosebumps all over my body.

We walked forward after Kael took my hand. I was unable to see anything beyond a shapeless shadow.

“Salima,” Kael said, then I heard the witch speak for the first time. Her voice gave me chills.

“Mighty Alpha, I see you brought your mate as promised.” There was silence after she spoke. But then out of nowhere, I felt a hand caressing my face. I stood still, unable to move. Her touch was cold and unsettling as if a lifeless object were touching me. I took a step back because I couldn't help it.

“Please do not be afraid, Luna, mate of the Alpha of Ghost Fang. It will be fine, I assure you of that. I'm certain that I will be able to lift the curse that was unjustly planted in your body.”

I swallow nervously, and nodding was my only answer because the words couldn't get out of my mouth. It was as if my body weren't able to connect with my brain. Cold, sweat, and bail began to invade me, and my hands began to shake. The terror, that was taking over me, was unstoppable. I wanted to run away and not hear any more of this.

“So be it, let's get started.”

That was the last thing I heard from the witch before my body was wrapped in an icy wind, knocking me over.
