 You will be our vessel

Brid

The witch in the middle who was holding my neck turned her gaze on me. Her expression was so somber, empty of all. A cruel smile formed on her lips, making me tremble. The air was electric, hurting my skin every time it blows in my way. They were going to kill me, they will kill me.

The dark witch looked at her, and then at me. The other three did not take their eyes off me for a second.

“Brid,” The first witch called my name, sending me right to the brink of hysteria. Her voice was terrifying, full of evil promises, It was as if the gates of hell were opening before me.

“I can feel your fear Brid, and I like it. It brings me back to life. I feed on human pain and suffering. That is why I will never die. I may take different forms, but my existence will always prevail. As long as humans suffer, I'll be there. My name is Calandria. Anyone who heard my name would always run in the opposite direction. I will show this new generation who we are, and what we can do.”

Calandria threw her head back, making her hair flutter more strongly, then she smiled and continued, “It doesn't matter, I'll make sure everyone knows who we are. The fear that each one of you creates will be my sustenance. My power will grow increasingly until I am invincible, like a goddess.”

She threw her head back again, laughing. Still, laughing, she turned to the curly-haired witch.

“Perinta, I don't like to go unnoticed. Please show Brid what I'm talking about. With her, we will begin our reign of terror.”

Unable to move, and in the blink of an eye, the witch appeared in front of me. I held my breath for several seconds until the initial shock wore off. My eyes widened and despair took root in me. The presence of this witch near was enough to burn my skin. Her power was immense, I could feel it.

At that very moment, my hopes of emerging victorious from here were dashed. The only thing that came to my mind was that these would be the last moments of my life.

Perinta started exuding soft smoke from her body. This engulfed me. Everything was white around me until in front of me I began to see something. As the smoke cleared, I started to see what was happening.

I was transported to a villa. It seemed like it was a long time ago. There were carts, and the houses were made of wood. There was no pavement and everything was basic. I could see everything unfold from above.

The town seemed at peace, each person was attending to their business. Until I saw the sky start to darken out of nowhere. Gray clouds began to invade the valley, with threatening thunders beginning to roar throughout the sky.

The clouds began to part, and from them, five figures descended. The villagers screamed and ran in all directions. The sky began to crack and a torrent of thunder began to fall through all of them.

The wooden and straw houses started burning, with people trapped in them. Farm animals were also victims of the fire, burned to scorch. Desolation and death reigned at that time. With horror, I noticed how the pain and suffering of the people were being absorbed by the witches. From their bodies, white smoke was coming out. All of it floated toward the witches. And until they finished absorbing everything, they didn't stop.

Later I saw another image of a similar town, which happened the same as the one before. These women were leaving death in their wake. Now I understand why she told me that she fed on people's pain.

My eyes were narrow, and no tears ran down my face. My pain was so much, but at the same time, I couldn't feel anything. As if all this did not exist.

At one point, she finished showing me this devastation. Then, she slowly moved away from me, until she took her original place next to the others. Calandria was watching me carefully without missing anything. I even doubted that she had eyelids. We stared into each other's eyes for a few seconds, until she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

“Mmm! I can taste your fear, and it's delicious.”

I began to tremble, still restrained, but I noticed something vital. The witches were tied to me through the ribbons. And I also saw that these were the ones who were feeding them with my emotions. I swallowed hard and closed my eyes, thinking of Kael. What could he do? What would he and Salima want me to do? There's nothing, nothing to do now, nothing. That's when a terrible feeling came over me, desperation.

“You are at our mercy. You will be the vessel in which our power will reside. Your body will obey us, only us and your consciousness will be buried in this sphere for all eternity. No one will be able to do anything to rescue you. You will die little by little until only your body remains.”

“NOOOO, NO, YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO ME. KAEL, KAEL.” I started to move my body frantically, aiming to free myself from these bonds. Something in me told me that if I got rid of these ribbons, they wouldn't be able to contain my body here any longer, but how?

My thoughts were cut off by Calandria's terrifying, malevolent laugh. “Ha, ha, ha! Kael? Are you talking about the same Kael who abandoned you when you were murdered? The same one who did not hesitate to turn his back on you and prefer the pack over you? His mate? Ha, ha, ha.”

She went silent, and her gaze was cold as ice. Her expression became flat. Thereafter, the five witches began to descend until they touched the ground. And as if they were ghosts that could pass through walls, they disappeared. Little by little, they banished, until the ground swallows them. Leaving me hopeless.
