I need to know the truth

Kael

I woke up with a terrible headache. Turning around, I realized that I was in my room. I leaned on my elbows trying to sit up, but my head immediately spun. What is happening to me? Once the dizziness passed, I kept thinking about everything that happened.

“Brid.”

Where is my mate? Wind, Wind. My wolf did not answer me. This is terrible, something bad must have happened to Brid. My wolf wouldn't react so badly if it wasn't for something to worry about. I closed my eyes and focused on my wolf. After a while of searching everywhere for him, I finally found him. He was pacing back and forth, frantically. From where he stood, it was clear that he was anxious and terrified.

“Wind, listen to me. Help me find Leaf. Try to contact her, she will tell us what is happening.” My wolf finally realized that I was with him, but he only looked at me and lowered his gaze again. He began to walk from one side to the other as if I did not exist. What's happening here?

“Wind, I need you to help me, if you know something, tell me.” My tone of voice increased in intensity.

Wind stopped and showed me his teeth in warning, telling me that I was crossing the line, but this was crucial. I couldn't stop just because my wolf was upset.

“Wind, tell me something.” I insisted again.

He lay down on the floor and crossed his legs, resting his snout on them. After that, Wind howled, pain and sadness could be heard behind every sound he made. That told me everything, he couldn't find her. Brid and Leaf are in danger, or something bad happened to them.

“Don't worry, friend, we will find them.” I disconnected from my unconscious and opened my eyes.

“Conrad, come immediately.” I mind linking him.

“Yes, Alpha,” Conrad answered me in seconds.

A minute later, the door to my room opened. Conrad walked in; however, he was not alone. I was surprised to see that Fatima and Toni were with him. My gaze was full of confusion.

“What's happening here?”

Conrad was acting so nervous, and a bit sad, unable to meet my eyes. Something was bothering him.

“Alpha,” Finally, Conrad looked up at me. “You need to know something. I know it will be very hard for you, but you are the Alpha, and you need to stay in control.”

What is he talking about? My face, at that moment, showed disbelief. Anything he was going to tell me would have to be bad.

“It's Brid, Alpha.”

“Where is she, something happened to her, I felt it? Where is she, Conrad? Tell me.”

The last word came out as a growl. Wind was alert and wanted to know where his mate was, to look for her.

Fatima stepped forward, bowing her head submissively. When my wolf saw her, he calmed down, she did not represent danger and was the best friend of our mate.

When she raised her gaze, she said, “Alpha, I am so sorry to have to be the one to bring this terrible news. Brid has been my friend since childhood, and I held her in high regard until a few days ago.” She was holding a camera in her hands, shaking nervously.

“Speaks.” By then, I was losing patience.

She reached out her hand, handing me the camera.

“Here is everything you need to know, Alpha. A picture is worth a thousand words.”

Nervous, I raised my arm to take it. I looked at the camera for a few seconds and then hit the power button. It lit up immediately, and I went straight to the menu. Selecting where the photos are saved, I press play.

The images that were passing automatically, one after another, stopped my heartbeat for a few seconds. The air couldn’t reach my lungs, and my hands began to shake. My vision began to blur, and my blood was boiling. Wind was growling fiercely within me to the point of madness. I wanted to tear apart the wolf that was hugging our mate, naked.

I dropped the camera on the bed and turned to Toni. Is he the one? Wind was emerging, making my eyes turn red, my beast was about to kill him. Wind let out the most terrifying roar I had ever heard, to date, and the surrounding wolves knelt, exposing their necks. I got out of bed and went to him. My mind was blank, with only instinct guiding me. My competition was in front of me, and I had to eliminate it. Nobody would steal my mate.

Already in front of him, Wind grunted again. The wolf was even more cowed. The smell of his fear-filled my room. His head was completely on the ground, with his neck extended, giving me access.

“Kael, listen first to what he has to say. Then you will know what to do with him, Alpha. Please, just listen to him.”

Conrad spoke up for this traitor, and Wind didn't like that. I turned to where he was and Wind growled, demanding his silence and submission. He lowered his head and closed his mouth immediately.

Then I returned my attention to Toni, saying, “SPEAK.” He jumps out of fright in the same place, and after clearing his throat several times, he started.

“Alpha, forgive me. There was nothing I could do to prevent it. Luna commanded my wolf to obey. She is Luna, and I am just another member of this pack. My wolf had no choice but to give in to her demands. Sorry Alpha, I should have informed you of the intentions and feelings that Luna has always had towards me. But I was afraid of causing trouble among the pack. So, I kept quiet, until two days ago. Brid summoned me to the forest to talk about something. It seemed very strange to me, and that is why I asked Fatima to tag along.”

“Yes Alpha, I was there, and I saw everything. Brid is our friend, yet you are our Alpha. We owe loyalty to you, and to the pack. I always knew that Brid was in love with Toni, even though she had found you. She kept harbouring feelings for him.”

“NO! Be quiet.”

“GRAAAAA,” With a loud yell, I picked up the wolf with one hand and threw him out of my room. Then I turned to Fatima, who was cowering, shivering in the corner.

“OUT OF HERE, NOW.” Finally, I pointed my finger at Conrad, “AND YOU TOO.” Head down, he and the others rushed out of my room. Leaving me alone with my thoughts.
